How to send a pre-recorded audio on WhatsApp Web
To send an audio you already recorded as a voice message on WhatsApp Web, you need a browser extension, because WhatsApp Web only lets you record on the spot or attach the file. With ZapAudio, you save the audio once in your library and send it in any conversation, and it arrives as a native voice message — with the waveform and the play button.
Why doesn't WhatsApp Web let you send a saved audio?
WhatsApp Web has two separate paths for audio: recording on the spot through the microphone (which becomes a voice message), or attaching a file (which becomes a document or a forwarded audio). There is no native third path that takes a saved file and turns it into a voice message — that's what an extension like ZapAudio does: it plays the saved audio back through the same path as the microphone.
How to install ZapAudio
- Open the ZapAudio listing on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click "Add to Chrome".
- Open WhatsApp Web — a new icon appears next to the message field.
How to build your audio library
Click the ZapAudio icon and either record an audio through the microphone or import a file you already have on your computer. Give it a name so you can find it later. Audios are saved in the browser's own storage — never on any server, ours included.
How to send the audio in a conversation
- Open the conversation.
- Click the ZapAudio icon.
- Choose the saved audio.
- Click send — WhatsApp shows "recording audio…" while it plays, and the message arrives as a native voice message.
Does it work on WhatsApp Business?
Yes. WhatsApp Business Web runs at the same address and uses the same interface as regular WhatsApp Web, so ZapAudio works the same way on both — no extra configuration needed.
How much does it cost
The free plan includes 20 sends, with no time limit and no card required. After that, ZapAudio Pro unlocks unlimited sends starting at R$ 19,90/month per license in Brazil (card charged in your own currency outside Brazil) — see the full pricing page. Questions: contato@nuxdigital.com.br.
